Any handheld will hold at least a half-dozen full-length books, so there's no excuse to be without reading material. The only down side is that new and copyrighted books can be hard to get, and of course cost money. But old books, including most of the classics, are available online for free--and they're better than most modern stuff anyway.
E-Text Links
The best places I know to find electronic texts, already packaged for the pilot, are:
- MemoWare -- a one-stop shop for almost every kind of e-text.
- The Palm Pilot E-Text Webring -- Most E-Text sites seem to be in here somewhere. (Disclaimer: some of the sites are useful; some are definitely otherwise.)
E-Texts Packaged by Me
The texts below were packaged for the pilot by me. I didn't create them originally, though--I found them in text format somwhere on the Internet. None of them are copyrighted, so they can all be distributed freely.
- A Few First Principles of Common Sense
A short article by John Thomas, discussing the nature of authority as derived from God.
- Christendom Astray from the Bible, by Robert Roberts
Originally published as "Twelve Lectures" about 140 years ago, "Christendom Astray" examines the basic teachings of the Bible, and concludes that the teachings of modern Christendom have changed a great deal from the original beliefs of the Apostles. The above zip file includes all eighteen chapters separately. You can also download the book as one large file (About 500K).
- 13 Lectures on the Apocalypse.
Another classic by Robert Roberts, "13 Lectures" gives a good, brief exposition of the book of Revelation. Available both as separate chapters and as one large file of about 285K.
- More to Come
- There are more etexts, but they're on the computer which is in the shop--so hopefully I'll get them up here by the end of 2000.
