[JPB Portrait] Joshua Peter Budney was born on June 19, 2000, six weeks before his due date. He weighed 6 lbs, 12 oz, and measured 20.5 inches long. (Good thing he was early--I'd hate to see how big he'd have turned out at full term!)

The portrait on the left was made in natural light. I used The Gimp to blur the background, simulating a very low f-stop. Notice Joshua's feet: he loves to grab or feel things with his feet. So he usually hooks his toes in his table, or the seatbelt, or whatever is within reach. Also notice the booster seat; we couldn't survive without it. It straps to a chair, is portable enough to take anywhere, reclines for small babies, and washes up easily. I highly recommend picking one up.

About the pictures: Each of the thumbnails is a link to the full-sized image. The full-sized pictures should download in about 50 seconds over a phone line. They are proportioned correctly for desktop wallpaper (just what you always wanted!), and are suitable for photo-quality prints.

Starting with the pictures from 2001-09-23, the thumbnails are links to a larger image sized for comfortable viewing in your browser. There are also links to the full-sized image, so you can make your very own 8X10 glossies of JPB.

The Pictures

Originally, we intended never to post more than a dozen or so pictures of Joshua here. The idea was to select only the best. Well, it's a losing battle; we dote on him too much. So now we're putting a few pictures on each page...

2001-09-12

On Joshua's first birthday we had a picnic in the local park. (These are the pictures I've been unable to get off the camera for three months! Boycott Polaroid!)

2000-11-20

After 3-5 months there's not much to say except that he's getting huge!

2000-06-27

Back in the Hospital to spend a few days under the billy lights. The poor guy had an exciting first week!

2000-06-21

Coming home from the hospital. These pictures come from Joshua's first three days, and if you've been here before, you've already seen them.
